About Sean Cumberlege

Born and raised in South Africa, I moved to the United States at the age of twenty to pursue higher education. Today, I'm a proud father to my son, Finlee, and husband to my wife, Casaundra.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2004 and graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2009. While at Denver, I was elected Managing Editor of the Denver Journal of International Law and won a writing competition that took me to the Hague Academy of International Law in the Netherlands. I was also entrusted to author two chapters in the legal treatise The Law of Transnational Business Transactions, covering corporate social responsibility and foreign direct investment.

It wasn't until after graduating that I found my true professional calling: representing individuals seeking justice in a system that often feels stacked against them.

Why I Represent Injured People, Not Insurance Companies

I'm licensed to practice law in Colorado, in both state and federal court. Early in my career, I worked as a defense attorney and coverage counsel for several insurance companies, which gave me an insider's understanding of exactly how insurers evaluate, delay, and minimize claims.

I now use that experience exclusively on the other side of the table, representing people going up against those same insurance companies in personal injury and insurance disputes. I currently serve as a board member of the Ved Nanda Center for International and Comparative Law at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
